Instelec Electrical Contractors was started over 30 years ago by Ian Sutcliffe – and doubled in size in 2014 when his eldest son Josh joined the business!

Although they are usually kept busy enough from recommendations and ‘word-of-mouth business, they increasingly found themselves asked if they had a website. They decided to take the plunge and asked if I could help them.

Before starting to create the site I had a look at some existing websites for other electrical contracting businesses in the area.

Quite frankly I was shocked by how many of them used very similar, impersonal language to present themselves. It was like (almost) everyone was using the same ‘template’ for their website’s written content – and I was determined not to follow the herd!

The tagline “Your Local No Nonsense Electrician” came about from this and is explained more fully on the About Us page on the website. That and the personality of the owner himself, whom I have known for several years.

Something else that struck me was that the other sites usually used the terms Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electrical Services, which are descriptions probably better understood by electricians themselves rather than their customers.

So I choose to title the pages with the customers in mind, naming them more simply “For Your Home” and “For Your Business“. The terms Domestic and Commercial are used within the pages themselves however, for search engine purposes.

My aim with every website I create is to be more personal in the language we use talking to your visitor / prospect / customer.
